How long do you need your equipment to stay on during a power cut?

A battery may have enough energy for several hours yet still let your computer switch off at the moment of the cut. These are two separate questions: how long the appliance must run and whether its power can be interrupted briefly.

Start with what you need to keep powered

Record the appliance model, its consumption and how long you need to use it. A router, television and computer may have different requirements. If consumption is unconfirmed, keep an identified estimate and check the label or manual; do not turn the estimate into a manufacturer specification.

Calculation example without a real appliance or battery: a declared constant load of 10 W for 4 hours needs 40 Wh in the appliance, before losses. The battery must additionally supply those losses and its own consumption. This calculation does not promise four real hours for any model or establish that the appliance stays on during the cut.

Check runtime and continuity separately

Runtime depends on consumption, usable energy and conditions. Continuity also depends on how the supply changes and what the appliance tolerates. Knowing battery capacity does not answer the second question.

The names EPS or UPS alone do not guarantee that specific equipment stays on. Look up transfer time and conditions in the manual for the model and variant. Then compare them against appliance requirements. A manufacturer-advertised figure remains a documentary claim; it is not a physical test by Nelpuni.

If any of those details are missing, continuity remains to be checked. Identify what is missing before choosing. Transfer time and start-up power describe different issues.

Checklist for a specific connection

  1. Identify model and regional variant of the battery and appliance.
  2. Check continuous consumption and, where relevant, start-up and its duration.
  3. Identify physical output, voltage, protocol, cable and accessories. A 100 W USB-C port may have a lower limit at the voltage your appliance requests.
  4. Check transfer time and conditions for operation as backup. Check the manual for how the station must connect to mains and the appliance to its output to enable backup; do not assume a universal wiring scheme.
  5. Check the interruption the appliance tolerates. If the manual is unclear, ask the manufacturer, specifying model, variant, transfer time and connection scheme. Keep the result pending until an applicable answer is available.
  6. A controlled practical check can provide evidence for the tested assembly; record equipment, configuration, load and result. Do not extrapolate that observation to all appliances or situations.

For loads whose interruption could cause significant harm, this guide does not determine a power solution: equipment-specific requirements and validation are needed.

What Nelpuni can say today

We can separate an energy calculation, a documentary limit and outstanding checks. We cannot promise that any battery replaces a continuity system for any computer or server. Nor do we treat price, offer, stock, affiliation or accessory availability as verified from a manual.

Define your need, calculate energy and check connections and model documentation. An energy calculation does not certify continuity during a power cut.
